Beginning Runners Group
The Ebensburg Area Running Club is forming a training group to prepare beginning runners to complete a 5K (3.1 mile) race. The group will meet on Wednesday evenings at 6:15pm, May 28 thru July 23 at the Central Cambria High School Track. Brand new runners, recreational joggers (people who can complete 1-2 miles), and people looking to get back into shape are encouraged to join. There will be a $20.00 fee, payable in cash or check at the first training session. The fee covers training sessions, an EARC shirt, and entry fee for the Ebensburg Homecoming 5k on July 26, 2014. Participants should wear running shoes and comfortable running attire and bring a water bottle. Runners under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. All participants are responsible for their own safety.

Wednesday Evening Track Workouts
Every Wednesday, starting May 28th, through the summer, meet at the Central Cambria HS track for workouts. We meet at 6 PM. All are welcome. On days the track is occupied, we will switch to hill workouts, runs on the XC course, or another type of run. Track workouts can help you get stronger, faster, understand pacing, and even make you more mentally tough. A beginner or haven't done a track workout in a long time? No worries. We have people of all abilities at the track. Not sure what to do? Check out one of the training programs for some ideas. Plus each week we usually have seasoned elite runners who can help guide you on what to do. Bring the whole family too! The parents take turns watching the kiddos in the infield while others complete their workout.
Half Marathon and Marathon Training Groups
The half-marathon crew will be led by Stephen Baker. He will be following Hal Higdon's "Novice 1" training plan, with one slight modification. Higdon has longer runs on Sunday, but Stephen plans to do these on Saturdays. So we will shift the schedule back a day, meaning that Wednesday runs (for example) will follow Thursday's schedule. Got that? If not, or if you're interested in knowing more, e-mail Stephen or just show up on the 28th for the first group run. If you are a regular runner and you are interested in trying longer distances (10k or higher), this is a terrific option for you
For those with their sites set on 26.2, Sandy Evans will be leading the aspiring marathoners. She is also a Hal Higdon fan, and Sandy will be following his "Intermediate 1" program (with the one-day-back shift, just like Stephen's group). Saturday Group Runs
Most Saturday mornings, there are group runs on the roads or trails in the area. We don't have a set time or meeting place. That all depends on the weather, planners, and if we can arrange the child care. We usually hit the roads or trail sometime between 6:30 - 9:00 AM. Popular meeting places are the GTT trailhead at Memorial Park, JFK parking lot at St. Francis, and 6 to 10 trail in Duncansville. We'll do our best to post weekly on facebook or email what pace groups are meeting where and the approximate distance or time we will be covering. We also are looking to set up more frequent EARC sponsored sitters for the kiddos so parents can get out at the same time. We are always looking to get more people out.
